We have heard for four years how “what Trump is doing is unparalleled” (and didn’t believe that he would actually do them). Yet he has done one unbelievable thing after another (including getting himself elected as President of the United States of America).

We didn’t believe that he wouldn’t concede the election, but he hasn’t.

How far does this process have to go before people take what he is doing as the serious danger to our democracy that it is?

The Pledge to Safeguard the Election (https://sign.moveon.org/petitions/pledge-to-safeguard-the-election) demands that election officials and office holders abide by modern electoral processes or else threatens to hold them severely accountable on this single issue in future elections if they don't.

The pressure on Republican politicians shouldn't just be coming from Trump voters - it should be coming from the entire electorate (including some Trump voters) to make them follow modern electoral procedures (which would basically lead to the popular will from within EACH STATE being expressed faithfully in the Electoral College). We should make Republicans terrified of something much larger than Donald Trump: that we - especially Independents and moderates - will defeat them on this specific issue in future elections if they don't follow contemporary electoral procedures in the current one.

Donald Trump has been caricatured as a “joke” every step of the way for five years. Don’t keep laughing at him until it is too late. Take what he is doing seriously. If you don’t get behind The Pledge to Safeguard the Constitution, do something you think would be more effective.
