There are other ways besides an impeachment conviction to hold Trump accountable which would also address the underlying problems.

One is a censure of Trump with real legislative teeth behind it, perhaps in conjunction with section 3 of the 14th Amendment (which would prevent him from running for office again). This would only require the 5-6 Republicans who are willing to convict regarding impeachment to vote to censure Trump in a serious, meaningful way.
