Such interesting timing – first of all, this pops to the very forefront of Medium stories within a few hours of Donald Trump’s acquittal. (Great algorithms we have on this site.) A too clumsy attempt by the Republican Party to change the subject?

Unfortunately, Senator Grassley, the Republican Party’s responsibility for enabling Donald Trump for four years and what it resulted in isn’t going to just “go away” with his impeachment acquittal. We CANNOT as a nation just move on to “other things.” And instead of suddenly condemning Trump, the Republican Party should atone for its own sins – and since your party obviously isn’t going to do that unless it becomes politically advantageous, we the people will help motivate your repentance with our actions at the ballot box.

One of the ways we will do this is as the man who caused the events of January 6 keeps himself at the forefront of everybody’s attention, we will concurrently keep the sycophants who enable him at the forefront of everybody’s attention as well.

The events which led up to an actual INSURRECTION at our nation’s Capitol aren’t merely “regrettable” or “horrific” – they need to be CORRECTED. I have been updating The War After the Election [https://medium.com/illumination-curated/the-war-after-the-election-545de96aa4ca?source=friends_link&sk=627c55d616d9296af3e398f1686493a4] with ideas regarding how this can be done - which includes a censure of Trump with real legislative teeth in it, perhaps in conjunction with section 3 of the 14th Amendment which would prevent him from running for office again. This legislation would only require a few Republicans to go along with it.
